In late June 2024, a photograph went viral on X, allegedly showing actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt posing together several decades earlier. "Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp & Brad Pitt, 1990s," one X post (archived) captioned the photograph, reaching more than 6.6 million views, 65,000 likes and 7,400 reposts as of this writing.
The photograph also spread on other social media platforms, such as Instagram, Reddit, Pinterest, Facebook, and TikTok. "THE HOLY TRINITY HAD COME TOGETHER," one Pinterest user commented.
In short, the viral image was a digitally created collage made of three separate images. Because it did not authentically depict DiCaprio, Depp and Pitt posing together, we have rated this claim as "Fake."

This isn't the first time we've investigated a digitally edited photograph. In June 2024, we debunked a photograph allegedly showing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and first lady Olena Zelenska posing in front of stacks of money. We also fact-checked a purported police mugshot of singer Amy Winehouse.
